If you've landed here, then you're probably interested in doing something with data.
What that is will depend upon how we can help, but what we do never changes because we live and breath data.It can be really hard sometimes to explain what Xynics does, because what we do is so closely dictated by what you need. It might be legal, ethical, procedural, consultative or informative, or any combination.Think about it, whatever it is you want, need or are curious about right now with data, could you fit it in a single box, or is there some quirk, need, desire or requirement that is specifically what you want? I would guess you can't "box-it" because if you could, you'd be buying SalesForce, HubSpot or some other cloud solution.Sometimes, owning data, a database, collecting data and using information is not as simple as putting it in a bucket and using it. There are so many hazards to look out for, from legal compliance, through information security standards, to practical processes that deliver controlled, stable and secure processing of data.
So, if you will let us, we will be your guide, your moral compass and your eyes and ears to make sure that what you do, is lawful, secure and effective.
We'll start by giving you these 5 reasons why we're the experts, your perfect partner to advise and help you in comparison to say your solicitor or other business advisor;

The GDPR & Data Protection LawYep, there's no getting away from it (and the Data Protection Act 2018, and the Privacy & Electronic Communications Regulations 2003, and more).
If your business processes (collects, uses or stores) personal data for any reason, even for HR, prospecting or simply delivering a service to customers, you need to be compliant with Data Protection law.
It really isn't as simple as downloading a few templates and we can cite regulatory action that proves that statement.
If you are not 100% certain that 100% of what you do with data is 100% lawful, then you really need to talk to us, and it's not expensive, in fact our first conversation costs you a phone call!

No, we're not just talking about passwords on laptops, encrypted drives and USB sticks, firewalls and cyber threats. Things like monitoring systems for suspicious activity, controlling access to information on a "need to know" basis, Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity Planning, Pandemic Plans!, ISO27001, Cyber Essentials and more.
Here's one for those of you that process credit or debit card payments. PCI-DSS. (yes, another acronym!).
All merchants and service providers that process, transmit or store cardholder data must comply with the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard. So, if you accept debit and credit card payments, even if you subcontract that processing to a third-party, you still need to ensure that the end-to-end process complies with PCI Data Security Standards.
We've seen so many times, companies taking Credit and Debit Card payments, even bank details via telephone, but their calls are recorded and they don't pause it. The same goes when authenticating a persons identity (you know, when you ring a business and they ask questions to verify you are who you say you are), where you should be pausing the recording, so you're not recording that security information.

QualificationsAnyone can learn scripts, texts, lines and rules; and if the average person took a multiple-choice test guessing at every answer, they would in all probability score around 25%. So, assuming they study a little, absorb some knowledge by osmosis, or have a minimal amount of experience, it's really not hard to increase that to 50%, 60% or more.
This is why we're so passionate about the qualifications and experience that Team Xynics have. We've been around for more than 14 years, doing the work and advising on the law. We've all sat the PDP Practitioner Certificate in Data Protection, so have been examined by leading data protection experts as not just knowing the law, but being able to interpret it and apply it in the real-world, not just in theory.

ExperienceSitting nicely with the qualifications, you really cannot beat experience. People who have been there, done it and got the T-shirt so to speak.
It's easy to site here, blowing our own trumpet because we know that you cna sit there thinking that you know your business better than anyone, and that is most certainly true. But in our experience, that is all to often the reason why so many businesses make the fundamental mistakes, miss the obvious and end up paying the price (like Marriott, BA, Experian, Doorstep Dispensaree Ltd and many more on the ICO's "action we've taken" website.

Partnerships / FriendshipsAs director of Xynics, former director of other businesses and holding roles of seniority, I was taught by an old-school business owner that there is no such thing as friends in business. I kind of agree with that, to an extend.
For us to do what we do, we need to know you, your business and your employees in microscopic detail. Most consultants will "audit" you and your systems, but we undertake "discovery" because it sounds less threatening.
After discovery comes analysis and planning, before finally we can deliver, but we need you and your business to be 100% on board, to trust us, to be able to approach us and to respect our expertise. That's why we prefer to be a partner rather than a supplier, and why we try to be friendly and approachable.
We can't twist your arm, or make you act and we certainly will not judge. At the end of the day, what you choose to do with the advice, guidance and support we provide is up to you. We'd love to partner with you, build a friendship, understand you and help you flourish, and that starts with your choice.
