THE BRIEF

To gain insights into children’s attitudes to reading locally.

THE PROJECT

By better understanding the reading habits and literacy of children in full-time education, the CLA and local education authorities wanted to direct funding to where support was most needed.

Xynics created a survey that was fun yet simple and enticing for the youngsters who would be filling it out. Over three years, Xynics shared the ClickSurvey with local schools – who were working in partnership with the CLA – and collected the data in a centralised database. The data was then analysed and a comprehensive report full of actionable insight was created for each age group and school.

THE RESULTS

  • Literacy levels in schools – and the disparity in this – became clearer.
  • Funding was more easily allocated to the areas that needed it most.
  • In areas where the money was spent, there was a clear uplift in literacy.
